[Yuuki looked up at the much taller man. Her hair fell away from her face slightly with the slight tilt to the right she gave while looking up at Kaname.]

I am?

[ There's a small chuckle; his fingers draw a strand of her long hair up to his lips, pressing it against them. ]

Somehow... you manage to have me always chasing after you.

[She hummed a bit at his response. After a moment, Yuuki had a small, shy smile on her face. Her cheeks were slightly flushed and she looked away slightly.]

I suppose I don't mind being called cruel if it means you'll stay with me.

If I promise that...

...Does that mean, you'll stay with me as well, Yuuki?

For as long as I am able, Brother.

[ No... not this...! There's distance in that word... ]

...It's Kaname, Yuuki.

[She still wasn't quite used to using his name. She nodded once, right. She should stop that.]

...Kaname...

That's right...

[ You can't stop him! Well I guess you could but-- ]

[ Kaname's hands slid onto Yuuki's soft, curved face. He bent over her, his lips easily connecting with his beautiful sister's. ]

[Due to his consideration of their height, Yuuki was able to bury her hands into the taller man's hair as she kissed him back. It was really very nice to be able to do this now. Although sometimes, she still found herself a bit embarrassed.]

[This is one of those times. She pulls away slightly and looked down a bit. She didn't move much and kept her hands where they were. It was just a strange feeling. As close as they were now, she remembered how unattainable he seemed when she was human -for most of her life thus far.]

[It's February 14th, otherwise known as Valentine's Day, but apparently it's not enough of a reason for Jin to leave his office. He's received more wishes on his birthday and that other silly holiday than he could care to count, and none of them really meant anything to him. As far as he's concerned, it's just another day and he sees no reason to treat it like it's special.

Care to prove him wrong?]

[Sorry, Jin, but you're getting a knock at your door in 3...2...1... there it is!]

Major Kisaragi? It's First Lieutenant Yayoi. May I come in?

[And first, the sound of knocking on the door only causes him to frown. He's not exactly in the mood for conversation, much less if it's that piece of trash that calls herself his secretary─ but as soon as he hears the voice on the other side of the door, the uneasiness disappears and his expression softens a bit.]

Enter.

[As curt as his response is, it's certainly not unwelcoming. If it's Tsubaki, Jin is more than willing to talk to her rather than continue to deal with this mind-numbingly dull paperwork.]

[Tsubaki opened the door just enough to enter and let it close behind her as she walked up to Jin's desk.]

Major, if I may. I have a formal request.

[Jin raises his eyebrow slightly at that. A formal request from Zero Squadron, and she comes to him personally instead of sending a letter? He puts the documents he was reading just a moment ago aside (they're probably not that important anyway) and leans back in his chair.]

Let us hear it, then.

[She nods and walks the remaining distance to his desk. Just then she smiles and relaxes a bit.]

I'd like for you to take the rest of the day off. I've spoken with our superiors and they seem to agree.

[She takes out a small, clear package from under her cloak with her left hand. It has a ribbon tying it together and inside the bag are a few chocolates.]

Happy Valentine's day.

[And then she brings out a small rectangular box. It's simple, just blue with a red ribbon around it.]

And Happy Birthday, Brother Jin. [Inside the box is a glasses case. The glasses are the same size and style as the ones he wore during school, but they're red. She noticed that he stopped wearing them when he began to work for the NOL, but honestly. He had a lot of paperwork to do all the time. It'd be better on his eyes if he wore the glasses during those times.]

[Ah, yes. He knows exactly what's supposed to come next. A brief pause, paired with a surprised blink at the sight of the gifts, followed by a small chuckle and a gentle smile. Jin hasn't really done any of this since he left the Military Academy, but it still comes so naturally to him that he could almost fool himself into believing this act is how he truly feels.

(And perhaps apart of it is, considering he even bothers with this little performance for her sake.)]

I suppose I can consider that, provided you do the same.

[The man takes the presents and unlike many others he's received today, these do not land in the trash can in the corner of the office.]

Thank you, Tsubaki.

Me? [Well that catches her off guard. She nods at his thanks.]

I...don't believe it's necessary for me to leave just yet. It's your day after all. [She may look a bit embarrassed by his thoughtfulness. Now if only he could be this kind to everyone else....]

[Everyone else just isn't you, Tsubaki.

He looks fairly amused with her reaction, allowing himself to tease her a bit more, albeit keeping it friendly.]

Hm? Even if that's my wish for today?

[While Jin himself has long since stopped caring about such ridiculous things like birthday wishes, he's quite certain it's an argument Tsubaki will have trouble saying "no" to.]

[Way to put her on the spot. She fidgets a bit at that.]

Your...wish? [Crap.]

Well, if it's your wish...b-but I can't just leave. [This is the best she can do.]

Ah, right.

[Here comes her sense of responsibility towards the NOL. Something Jin has never concerned himself with, but knowing Tsubaki, it may not be easy to convince her to leave her post.

Fortunately, he does have an idea how to change her mind.

His expression tenses a bit, the smile replaced with cold professionalism.]

First Lieutenant Tsubaki Yayoi. You are to take the rest of the day off.

... This is an order.

[What's the point of having the position of power if you don't abuse it?]

[Immediately, Tsubaki straightens up and salutes.]

Yes Sir! [Ah! Damn her training.]

[She falters a bit after that, bringing her hand down.]

I mean...is that alright? We're not even in the same division. [Nice save.]

It's fine. [He's the Hero of Ikaruga, after all, and apparently that title holds some meaning to people who aren't Jin himself. Who's going to question him?

The man stands up, walking around his desk until he faces the girl.]

Now, shall we be on our way?

[He wasn't all that interested in leaving the office, since as boring as his paperwork is, he doesn't have anything better to do, unfortunately. If Tsubaki does decide to accompany him, however, the day may become slightly more bearable.]

Oh! Alright!

[She nods and smiles up at the older boy.]

Then, since we are both relieved from our work on the same day and in the same city no less! Would you be opposed to spending your birthday with me, Brother Jin?

[She didn't want to impose and she truly did want him to enjoy his day off, and perhaps he wanted to be alone, what with his loner tendencies. But it had been a while since she got to spend any extended period of time with him and in all honesty, she missed it.]
